Man of Steel fan review

1978. Christopher Reeves starred in the first of four movies that I got to watch outside the window of our neighbor who had betamax in 1985. I was wrapped. Fast forward 2006, no reaction, not tickled. I don't know why. Then 2013, news started to come out of a new Superman, albeit he doesn't or hesitant to be called Superman. The "S" means hope now. Hmmmm... Henry Cavill. News popping out everywhere. I've seen Henry before, gushed over him, cringed and felt sorry that one media outlet called him unluckiest star around. He was on tv shows and movies - that defines success to me.
100 million worth of promotions started to pour. June 14, mark it. Man of Steel premieres. That's what they call it now "Man of Steel". Let us all tremble to await.
June 14 came and went. People were raving, ranting. It was the best, it came up short. I am waiting for my review.
News came out that the stars will attend the films premiere in my city. A sense came to me to go and since as I didn't get to see  Reeves in his time. And besides, how many times in my lifetime will I get to see Superman in the flesh? Packed a bag, board a flight and so I went.
I was too young when the 1978 quad franchise came out and I guess premieres then are a lot different to now. I was not disappointed. Henry Cavill looked the part, he looked just like those photos of him from other premieres around the world. He looked more like a Greek god than Superman, although I really haven't seen a god now, have I?
Two days later. Sitting on the cinema, popcorn and soda in hand. Looking forward to finally getting to watch Superman again. It's more like anticipating really, with anxiety and utter impatience.
Fast forward 2 hours, popcorn still three quarters full and a full soda. It was that scenario, I didn't even get to eat. I was stuck to my seat, literally. Breathless at times and just blown away.
It wasn't perfect, as was the quad franchise, but it was Superman. He's back. And I miss Christopher Reeves. I might have seen him through metal window bars when I was little, but he was Superman. The wink, the half smile, the curl. He saved the world. And he has issues he had to deal with, same as Henry Cavills' Man of Steel.
Sitting on a comfortable chair this time around, 3D glasses and snack. Thanks to the director Zack Snyder and team,  Superman is back. And I am looking forward for more.
And as for the response to the question if Henry Cavill is a man or god?  Let's watch here:
